Global businesses need access to global data on a 24/7 basis no matter which environment their assets and resources are operating in. More and more organisations are trialling, testing and investing in different ways to tap into the global Internet of Things (IoT) network from Iridium to enable data accessibility everywhere and maximize efficiencies and their competitive edge.
Iridium IoT solutions offer truly global coverage with low-latency and near real-time data delivery, providing machine to machine data connections on a worldwide basis. In addition, ahead of the launch of Iridium NEXT, the M2M network and devices are designed to offer a smooth transition and compatibility for the next generation satellite constellation, providing connectivity for decades to come.
Combined with global services such as Iridium Burst and Iridium Short Burst Data, the low cost, next generation, multi-purpose adaptable transceivers are ultra-light and come in a variety of sizes and with different capabilities for application across a wide variety of different industries. M2M services are used for tracking of maritime vessels, equipment monitoring, and automatic vehicle location, across a variety of sectors from agriculture, to mining, energy, oil and gas, to transport. For example, utilising the arctic network coverage unique to Iridium services, polar researchers employed a variety of transceivers to capture data from remote assets such as buoys measuring waves, Ozone and ice mass balance as well as autonomous underwater vehicles to aid their research.
In order to help guide our customers to the right equipment for their IoT service, we have developed a new Iridium IoT M2M Product Comparison, showcasing the leading Iridium M2M transceivers.
Iridium Edge
The latest addition to the portfolio is the ready-to-go reliable satellite communication device that expands connectivity beyond terrestrial limits for 100% global IoT coverage. The satellite add-on enables access to a range of fleet management, telematics, safety and remote monitoring applications, while reducing the cost and complication associated with hardware development, manufacture and certification.
Iridium 9602 SBD
Designed to be integrated into a wireless data application with other host system hardware and software, the Iridium 9602 SBD provides a complete solution for a specific application or vertical market.
Iridium 9603 SBD
One fourth the volume and half the footprint of its predecessor, the Iridium 9603 the smallest form factor of any commercial satellite transceiver available today so is ideal for space-constrained applications including monitoring, tracking and alarm systems.
Iridium Core 9523
The Core 9523 is Iridium's smallest, lightest and most advanced voice and data satellite transceiver module, enabling simplified global voice and data connectivity through SBD, CSD, SMS, RUDICS and Telephony services. It offers easy integration into innovative new devices and solutions to reach previously under-served consumer and vertical markets.
Iridium 9522B
The 9522B second-generation light-weight L-Band Transceiver (LBT) with a built-in SIM card reader is designed to be embedded into a range of mobile satellite terminals. It supports all Iridium-based services, including voice telephony, circuit-switched data, short-burst data (SBD) and short message service (SMS).
