This week Inmarsat has released firmware updates for the Ready, Robust and Reliable IsatPhone 2, and the original IsatPhone Pro, which amongst other benefits, will enable support for the new MEAS region and improved reported GPS location accuracy on both handsets.
IsatPhone Pro - Firmware 5.17.2
Inmarsat has launched a new firmware, which supports the following fixes and enhancements:
- Support for new MEAS region
- Improved reported GPS location accuracy
- Corrected the message content for the V-card delivery
- Improved the practice of the Fixed Number Dial (FND)
- Removed occasional crash events in some occasions
- Other improvements and minor bug fixes
Please note that for users of 5.3.0 or higher, this is a recommended upgrade, but for users yet to upgrade to version 5.3.0 or higher, this upgrade to 5.17.2 is considered ‘mandatory’ to avoid the phone becoming non-operational.
IsatPhone 2 - Firmware 02.00.01
Inmarsat has launched a new mandatory firmware upgrade, which is critical for the functionality of the GSPS service including the GSPS network and the IsatPhone 2 handset, and supports the following fixes and enhancements:
- Support for new MEAS region
- Improved reported GPS location accuracy
- Added options for battery charging to extend battery life
- Added Turkish language support
- Improved handling of the leap second event
- Corrected email reply format
- Other improvements and minor bug fixes
