Satcom Global Aura is a high bandwidth communications solution providing unlimited Ku-Band data along with straightforward mix and match options for back-up and hardware.
Ian Robinson, Satcom Global CEO, explains why Satcom Global decided to build their own Aura VSAT network and service:
“The VSAT networks we had access to were closed network solutions which came encumbered with complicated fair usage policies and we felt that these closed network solutions were designed to benefit the network operator more than the maritime user. Our approach from the start has been to begin with an open pipe philosophy and work with each of our customer’s individually to ensure they get the maximum value from the enhanced network capability.“
Aura global Ku-Band airtime options come in four standard packages from Aura Entry plan up to Aura Ultra plan, with bespoke high-bandwidth packages available on request.

Ian Robinson added:
“Our flexible Aura packages offer high bandwidth with guaranteed data speeds (CIR) that allow customers to confidently deploy services and applications requiring real time performance and dedicated bandwidth. With speeds of up to 4096kbps (MIR) on standard packages and much higher on bespoke plans Aura will offer owners a diverse range of benefits boosting operational efficiency and crew welfare whilst maintaining predictable OpEx.”
Customers can also select the L-Band back-up airtime options to best suit their needs, including choice of Iridium Pilot and Inmarsat FleetBroadband terminals and a range of MB bundle options .
The mix and match customisable benefits of Aura also mean that customers can select the preferred VSAT hardware to best suit their needs, where customers can select their Ku-Band antenna such as the Intellian v60 or v100. Furthermore the unique Satcom Global below deck rack which comes as an integral component of Aura VSAT, features a number of boxes including an iDirect X7 modem and Satcom Global’s IPSignature 4 multifunction smartbox for Ku and L-Band switching and BYOD connectivity.
