7th May 2015
In the wake of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal on 25th April 2016, which caused thousands of injuries and has claimed over 7000 lives, Satcom Global would like to again express our condolences to all those affected by this natural disaster.
The earthquake that hit near Nepal's capital city of Kathmandu destroyed homes, businesses and infrastructure in the Himalayan nation, making it difficult for aid agencies, NGO’s and volunteers to travel around, communicate and get access to the information they need to help tackle the crisis.
As the satellite communications world rallies to provide vital communications in the disaster zone in support of these aid efforts, Inmarsat has today announced additional mobility for its BGAN Link service.
The following Inmarsat BGAN Link initiative is effective immediately and we hope that it will help to support our Aid and NGO customers in their efforts to tackle this crisis:
- Complete mobility will be enabled on BGAN Link three and twelve month plans within a 550km radius from Kathmandu. This means that there will be no 'fixed location' restrictions for BGAN Link within the whole country.
- The initiative applies to qualifying BGAN Link plans activated within the next three months - between now and the 31st July 2015 - and will expire when the plan subscribed to expires, or by the 31st July 2016, whichever comes first.
In order to activate a BGAN Link service under this promotion, our friendly team in your region can work with you to complete Inmarsat’s BGAN Link application form which requires you to clearly state the following:
- Customer name, which must be a registered Aid organisation or NGO (this will be validated)
- Please use this GPS location for every terminal required under the plan: 27° 42’ N 85° 20’ E
For further information on BGAN Link, please download the full product sheet from our Resources library, and for pricing please contact your friendly Satcom Global Account Manager or Just Ask.
