Satcom Global Hosts Satellite Communications Supplier, Dealer and Customer Event in Australia

On Wednesday 17th February 2016, Satcom Global welcomed 40 of our top dealers and customers in the Oceania region to attend our Satcom Global Partner and Customer Event, with guest presenters from leading satellite communications networks and hardware manufacturers.

General Manager of Satcom Global Oceania, Chris Leydon, welcomed the attendees to the Rydges Hotel in Brisbane with a company update featuring the latest news on the recent expansion of our product and services portfolio in the marine and offshore sectors.

Inmarsat were the first guest speakers to take the stage, updating on the strong performance of their flagship services in the last year, from FleetBroadband to land satellite communications for enterprise services, and mobile satellite services growth with the IsatPhone 2. In addition, there was exciting news on the progress of Inmarsat’s Ka-band service GlobalXpress which is undergoing successful testing in Botswana, meaning the first high-speed broadband network to span the world will soon be available! As well as further information on Inmarsat’s maritime VSAT solution ‘FleetXpress’, the network provider also announced that connectivity through L-Band will receive a boast  for customers in the Middle East and Asia (MEAS) region.

Wireless Innovation were our next guest speakers onto the stage, with Neil Jamieson demonstrating the benefits of the Cobham SATCOM’s Explorer Push-To-Talk (PTT) solution, which delivers extended coverage, improved call quality and lower costs for mobile workforce communications.

Attendees were then introduced to the brand new in house developed maritime solution from Satcom Global: IPSignature 4. Much more than a multi-router, the multi-function device can be used on-board vessels with Inmarsat FleetBroadband or VSAT, offering low cost crew calling and bring your own device technology for seafarers to stay connected. As well as boasting crew welfare at sea, the product also offers centralised control of vessel network connections and communications which can increase operational efficiency.

Following the informal lunch break where our suppliers got the chance to catch up with our customers and dealers, as well as each other, it was over to global satellite communications network Iridium. The team put on an exciting presentation revealing key milestones in the development of the fast-speed Iridium Certus service on the new Iridium NEXT constellation, which will see the introduction of 66 operational satellites, 6 in-orbit spares and 9 ground spares.

The final presentation of the informative day came from our trusted and respected hardware suppliers Beam Communications. Our guest speaker educated the audience on the Iridium Push-To-Talk solution available on Beam hardware, as well as their portfolio of satellite communications docking stations, antennas, cables and other accessories to enhance communications solutions in remote areas.

Following an afternoon of instructive live demo’s out on the hotel roof terrace, guests were thanked for their attendance, participation and continued support over an informal dinner.

We look forward to hosting further customer and dealer events around the world to share our knowledge and bring our suppliers and customers together!
